The Moment Everything Changed
I remember being 12 years old…
Hearing loud knocks on the door early in the morning.
Police.
People coming into our home.
And watching as they began taking our things—
the same home we thought was ours… gone just like that.
We packed what we could into two cars
and drove over 24 hours from Providence to Texas.
A family of five, moving into a one-bedroom apartment.
That moment did something to me.
It shaped how I saw life.
It shaped how I saw money.
It shaped how I saw security.
And deep down, I made a decision:
“I will never be in this position again.”
But what I didn’t realize was that decision created something deeper:
A survival mindset.
As I got older, survival mode showed up in different ways.
At one point, it led me into the wrong crowds, bad decisions, selling drugs, and eventually jail.
Later, it showed up in a way that looked more acceptable on the outside.
It looked like working nonstop.
Grinding 24/7.
Chasing success at all costs.
Neglecting my family.
Putting work before the people I loved.
On the outside, it looked like ambition.
But underneath it, it was survival.
I became driven, focused, disciplined, and determined.
I learned how to build.
I learned how to make things happen.
And on the outside, it looked like success.
But internally, there was pressure.
There was fear.
There was a constant need to stay in control.
Because the truth was:
I wasn’t building from alignment.
I was building from survival.
And I started to realize… I wasn’t the only one.
There are so many Kingdom professionals, entrepreneurs and builders in the marketplace who:
Know God… but don’t consistently seek Him
Are producing results… but lack peace
Are disciplined… but not deeply rooted
We’ve mastered execution…
But we never learned how to build with God.
Then the revelation hit me:
👉 Hustle culture isn’t always ambition…
Sometimes it’s unhealed trauma.
👉 Overworking isn’t always discipline…
Sometimes it’s fear dressed up as responsibility.
👉 And success without alignment… Will always feel empty that’s the real problem, not a lack of strategy information, a lack of alignment.
So this event was born out of that realization:
That before we teach people how to scale… we have to help them come back into alignment.
Before we talk about execution… we have to restore identity.
Before we build bigger… we have to build with God.
Faith in the Marketplace Live exists to help leaders break survival mode…
